Cabin/Sport Model Scramble Rules
Model: Any Cabin or semi scale sport model, designed before 1960. eg Tomboy, Cardinal etc.
Engine: Any engine up to 1.0 cc or replica thereof produced before 1960. (0.6cc MP Jet desel engines are also permitted).
Flying: Models are to be launched from the flight line into wind.
Model must land in the designated landing area behind the flight line as determined by the contest director. If any part of the model crosses the designated landing area boundaries when landing htis will result in a zero-flight score. If unsure ask the contest director.
At the end of the competition (usually after 30 mins) the model MUST land in the designated landing arear, otherwise a zero-flight score.
Pilots must not enter the designated landing area until the model has landed.
Transmitters must remain on the flight line whilst the model is retrieved.
The model must have the engine stopped BEFORE returning the model to the flight line.
The engine must be hand started no electric fingers.
No Runners are allowed. Pilot must retrieve the model.
Time Keeper: Please arrange yourself a time keeper beforehand, scorecards will be provided.
Minimum flight to count is 30 sec. Maximum flight is 3 mins (180 secs)
Flight times to be written down in minutes and seconds.
Record all flights even if less than 30 seconds in the duration.
Most time in the air, over the allotted time, winds. (The length of the contest will be announced on the day but is usually 30 mins).
Enough interest has been received and we will offer all 5 EOT events, Duration, Texaco, Height Limited, 1/2A, and Vintage Electric Glider.
We will be flying on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th on the same field as the wet fuel Old Timers so it will be possible for people to enter both types. We will share the air and flight line, but the classes flown at any time will probably not match. I am thinking the first day will have Texaco, 1/2A and Vintage Glider, and second day Duration and Height Limited. This appears to best match the fuel classes on these days. But I am happy to be flexible.
The MAAA rules will apply (https://www.maaa.asn.au/images/pdfs/Australian-Rules-S5-Old-Timer-Rules-2017.pdf Section 10.4.3 to 10.4.8) The AEFA concession for post 1938 models in Texaco will not apply.
I hope for 4 preliminary rounds with one discard before flyoffs. To do this we will need to fly in mass launch groups, not time slots. Later I will post a schedule with target times for rounds. I'll allow time for model and battery changes but please be ready, or we will not get the events done in time. Flyoffs are always needed in Tex and 1/2A but rarely in other events. We may use % capacity remaining to decide if fly offs go too long. Duration can go to motor time accumualtion if a flyoff is not possible. HL and VEG rarely need flyoffs. Weather can of course change anything, be optimistic.
Plan to fly two rounds back to back for each session, so for Tex and 1/2A at least, that requires two batteries. Please be prepared, start the day with all packs full and have enough charging gear to refill any pair of packs in a half hour. It is very unfair to keep others waiting if you are not ready.
The entry form is already too big so please enter the Duration, Texaco, 1/2A, and OT Glider events already on the entry form for the similar SAM events plus Std Duration for Height Limited. We will sort out the entries between power types after receipt.
Only 2.4Ghz radios can be used becasue of other RC events on the same field.
Please email me if you are intending to enter and I'll keep you informed of schedule etc.
